Penetrant Testing

Liquid Penetrant Testing

Detection of surface-breaking defects in non-porous materials. A liquid dye is applied to the surface, drawn into any open discontinuity by capillary action, then made visible by a developer. Effective for detecting cracks, laps, seams, porosity, and laminations on welds, castings, forgings, and machined surfaces of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and plastics.

Magnetic Particle Testing

Magnetic Particle Testing

Detection of surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. The component is magnetized and iron particles are applied to the surface. Discontinuities disrupt the magnetic field, attracting particles that reveal the defect. Standard method for welds in carbon steel, structural fabrications, pressure vessels, and pipeline construction.

Ultrasonic Testing

Conventional Ultrasonic Testing

Volumetric detection of internal flaws using high-frequency sound waves. A transducer sends pulses into the material; reflected signals reveal internal discontinuities and their depth, size, and orientation. Used for weld inspection, thickness measurement, lamination detection in plates, and integrity assessment of pressure vessels, pipelines, and structural components.

Phased Array Ultrasonic

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing

Advanced ultrasonic inspection using multi-element probes that electronically steer, focus, and scan the beam. Generates detailed sectoral and linear images of weld volumes. Delivers higher probability of detection, faster scan speeds, and visual data that supports engineering review. Preferred method for critical welds in pressure piping, nuclear, and pipeline girth welds, where RT alternatives are restricted.

What You Receive as a Unified Deliverable

Technique Selection & Procedure Development

Qualitech engineers select the appropriate NDT method for each inspection point based on material, geometry, access, code requirements, and defect criticality. Written procedures aligned with ASME V, AWS D1.1, API 1104, and project specifications.

Personnel Qualification Verification

All partner NDT technicians qualified to ASNT SNT-TC-1A or CP-189 (Level II minimum for execution, Level III for interpretation). Qualification records collected, verified, and filed in project quality documentation.

Equipment Calibration & Validation

Calibration blocks and reference standards verified before each inspection campaign. Equipment certifications validated. Calibration records attached to every NDT report for full audit defensibility.

Field Execution Supervision

Qualitech representatives oversee field execution at critical hold points, verifying technique compliance, surface preparation, and evidence capture. Photos, measurements, and environmental data recorded alongside NDT results.

Report Review & Acceptance

Every NDT report reviewed by Qualitech Level III or senior engineer before delivery to the client. Acceptance criteria verified. Indications classified. Rejections, repairs, and reinspections tracked to closure in the project quality system.

Documentation Integration

NDT reports linked to the correct ITP item, weld number, tag, drawing, and system. Integrated into digital quality system and progressively indexed into the turnover package. No loose PDFs. No fragmented records.
